Founded in 1853, Mount Pleasant Cemetery is situated on more than 50 acres of land in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Mount Pleasant is an active cemetery steeped in history and also the site of the state's first crematory. Beautifully landscaped and maintained, the cemetery is both an ideal choice for a final resting place or a day of historic exploration.
What We Offer
Mount Pleasant is honored to be Vermont's only non-profit crematory. Since the 1960s, we have proudly provided cremation options in northern Vermont and New Hampshire.
We welcome all inquiries from individuals looking to purchase burial lots of various sizes. Individual plots can house a single full burial as well as several cremation burials.
With over 15,000 burials on-site, we receive numerous inquiries about deceased relatives, friends, and historic figures. If you are planning a visit with a specific goal in mind, we kindly request that you contact us in advance, so we are able to have as much information available to you as possible upon your arrival.
We are currently working to input past records into our database to further assist you in finding a decedent in our cemetery. With almost 150 years of records from before our first computer, you can imagine the time this will take. In the meantime, you can try Find a Grave. Past visitors have kindly added their findings at Mt. Pleasant to this international database. We would be greatly appreciative if future visitors did the same.
